Church of Scientology fighting fire with fire

If you cant beat them, join them. The Church of Scientology has enabled video on its Web site in an effort to further disseminate its religious message, a month after a widely publicized online campaign sought to discredit and “dismantle” the controversial religion.
The Scientology Video Channel launched this week to “provide an overview of the basic Scientology beliefs and practices of the religion while answering the question ‘What is Scientology?’,” according to a statement released by the church.
By making the video channel available online, the Church of Scientology hopes to provide enlightening information to those who have questions about the religion.
The church says it has “always considered the Internet a resource for disseminating accurate information about the religion,” and its new video channel follows hot on the heels of a February campaign that sought to damage the reputation of Scientology and its followers.
In mid-February, the “Anonymous” group released three YouTube videos that sought to discredit and “dismantle” the church, not long after they had claimed responsibility for a distributed denial of service attack on the Scientology Web site.
The Church of Scientology says its new Video Channel contains 82 Scientology related videos, as well as information on humanitarian programs it sponsors.
